At the Alumni Homecoming 2018, the first ever LUMS Vice Chancellor’s Alumni Achievement Awards recognised 10 alumni with outstanding accomplishments across sectors and contributions made to local, regional, national and/or global communities.
As part of the Homecoming Weekend 2018, the inaugural Vice Chancellor’s Alumni Achievement Awards (VC-AAA) winners were invited back to their alma mater to spend time with their brilliant cohort of fellow alumni winners, and rejoice in the legacy of their accomplishments.
The VC-AAA celebrations kicked off with a welcome breakfast hosted by the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Arshad Ahmad on Friday morning in the Executive Dining Hall at LUMS, where the winners were joined by Ms. Nuzhat Kamran, Director of Advancement, and Dr. Jamshed Khan, Professor Suleman Dawood School of Business. The alumni were first addressed by Ms. Kamran, who warmly welcomed them back to LUMS, and then by Dr. Ahmad, who congratulated them on their exemplifying achievements thus far, and appreciated them for how well they have represented and demonstrated the positive impact of our alumni to the communities they serve. He also shared with the alumni winners an in-depth perspective of what the VC-AAA is all about, including his own vision for how the winning alumni cohort can pave the way for more engagement. The alumni winners then took the opportunity to introduce themselves to each other and laughingly reminisced over their favourite memories from LUMS. After the breakfast, the AAA Award winners had a Team-Building Activity which was facilitated by Dr. Jamshed Khan.
At the end of the evening, the winners along with Dr. Tahir Andrabi, Dean, School of Education and Dr. Shahid Masud, Dean, Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering and members of the LUMS Advancement team went on a tour of old Lahore where they had the chance to explore and enjoy cultural landmarks of Lahore’s beautiful Walled City. They visited Food Street, Allama Iqbal Tomb, Badshahi Mosque, Hazoor-e-Baagh, Picture Wall on Tuk Tuk Rikhshaw, Sheesh Metal. Finally, the night ended with a delicious dinner at Haveli Restaurant.
The Award winners were awarded with shields and applause, by Vice chancellor Dr. Arshad Ahmad, at the ceremony at the Homecoming night, with the members of their family in attendance along with the alumni. The University is proud of the contributions made by the alumni as well as thankful for their ethical and professional leadership and generosity to strengthen LUMS and look forward to greater success for the University.
