LUMS Alum Appointed Head of Women’s Cricket by Pakistan Cricket Board

In a move that will take women in sports to even greater heights in Pakistan, Tania Mallick (MBA ’91) has been appointed the new Head of Women’s Cricket by the Pakistan Cricket Board. After graduating from LUMS, Ms. Mallick started her own business and remained involved with LUMS as Adjunct Faculty at the Suleman Dawood School of Business. 

Ms. Mallick’s enthusiasm for sports has led her to many national and international stages throughout her career. She represented Pakistan in the Seoul Asian Games in 1986 and was the national champion in 1987-88. She has also served as the Vice President of the Punjab Olympic Association, Vice President of the Punjab Squash Association and as a member of Pakistan Olympic Association’s Education and Women’s Commissions. 

Ms. Mallick’s appointment is a source of great pride for the LUMS community and reinforces the University’s commitment towards gender equity. LUMS believes that women in leadership positions is a great indicator of societal advancement and progress and actively encourages and supports its students and faculty to take on important roles. Dr. Farhat Haq, Provost LUMS, congratulated Ms. Mallick at her appointment and said, “Ms. Mallick’s passion for sports and her entrepreneurial spirit will be a valuable asset to Women’s Cricket in Pakistan. We wish her the best of luck in her new role and look forward to all the new milestones the cricket team will achieve under her leadership.”
