BSc Class of 2014 Signs MoU to Support the National Outreach Programme at LUMS
The BSc Class of 2014 has exemplified the spirit of giving back by establishing a scholarship fund to support the National Outreach Programme (NOP) at LUMS. This initiative seeks to identify and nurture promising students from underserved regions across Pakistan, providing them with a pathway to world-class education and life-changing opportunities.
The MoU was signed between Mr. Yahya Bajwa, class fund representative, and Dr. Ali Cheema, Vice Chancellor of LUMS. The ceremony was also attended by Ms. Nuzhat Kamran, Director, Office of Advancement, LUMS, and Mr. Anas Ashraf, Head of Development, LUMS, alongside members of the Class of 2014.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Cheema expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the BSc Class of 2014, emphasising the significant role of such initiatives in shaping the future. “In an increasingly competitive global landscape, LUMS provides students with platforms for growth and success. This scholarship fund ensures that deserving students have the resources and opportunities to excel academically and professionally,” he stated.
Reflecting on the motivation behind this initiative, Mr. Bajwa shared, “The National Outreach Programme made my LUMS journey possible. Education is the foundation of a thriving society. Through this scholarship fund, the BSc Class of 2014 can give back to the community. I am confident that contributing and investing in education will always lead to positive changes in society.”
The NOP, a flagship initiative of LUMS launched in 2001, aligns with the University’s vision of offering premium education to talented students nationwide, regardless of their financial circumstances. It won the prestigious Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Platinum Award 2021 for ‘Best Practices in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion’, a recognition of excellence in educational advancement worldwide.
LUMS is grateful to the BSc Class of 2014 for their role in expanding access to quality higher education and empowering more students to pursue their academic aspirations.
